Resource and Family Fair

Children have fun as their parents meet with community partners who joined resources under one roof on Saturday April 4, 2009. Westside residents searching employment, jobtraining, health and food benefits and assistance did not have to go far. Making Connections – San Antonio hosted their first Resource and Family Fair at the Neighborhood Place- Edgewood. The San Antonio Food Bank assisted families with the application process to qualify them for an array of benefits; food stamps, TANF, CHIP and Medicaid. Tables lined the hallway with representatives from Alamo Labor Properties, Centers for Working Families, Westside Education and Training Center (WETC) Workforce Solution Alamo and many others who passed out goodies, informative materials and words of encouragement. Children of all ages were treated to free toothbrushes and proper brushing tips from Ocean Dental and everyone enjoyed free hot dogs and refreshments.
