Family Service, since 1903, has a mission of “helping individuals and families improve their lives and strengthen their communities”. Family Service offers a wide array of services to support the mission utilizing evidence-based approaches and diverse, qualified staff. The service continuum includes:
- family strengthening and parenting education utilizing three research-based, nationally recognized curriculums in 42 schools
- individual, group, and family counseling offered in the home, office, and community
- case management and resource/referral services
- quality child care resources and referrals
- education and mentoring support for child care providers
- youth character building and gang reduction activities
- supervised visitation and neutral exchanges for custodial and non-custodial parents
- in-home care and counseling services for seniors
- supporting Healthy Marriage services to couples and Healthy Relationship education services to unwed, expecting mothers

Family Service provides these services through a number of initiatives including a Community Partnership for Protecting Children hosted at the Neighborhood Place. The Community Partnership involves parents, relatives, neighbors, schools, health care providers - whole communities coming together to create networks of support that include extended family, friends, local non-profits, and other state and local agencies that share the responsibility of helping families and protecting children.
